What is a capstone project?
A culminating experience that allows students to integrate the knowledge and skills they’ve learned throughout their academic program.
What is basic research?
A type of investigation focused on improving the understanding of a particular phenomenon, study, or law of nature. It examines data to find the unknown and fulfill a sense of curiosity.
What is applied research?
A type of examination looking to find practical solutions for existing problems, including challenges in the workplace, education, and society.
What is a scientific problem?
Something you don’t understand but can do an experiment to help you understand. Scientific problems are usually based on observation of scientific phenomena.
What is the first step in selecting a research problem?
Identify Research Interest: Choose a topic or field that interests you and aligns with your academic background or career goals.
What is the second step in selecting a research problem?
Review Literature: Conduct a literature review to understand the current state of knowledge in your chosen field.
What is the third step in selecting a research problem?
Formulate Research Question: Based on your review of the literature, formulate a clear and focused research question that addresses a specific problem or gap in knowledge.
What does SMART stand for in research objectives?
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound.
What is the fourth step in selecting a research problem?
Define Objectives and Scope: Clearly define the objectives of your study and the scope of your research.
