What is The Jungle about, and why was it singnificant?
It was about the American meat packing industry and people were outraged about the filth that was in the factories. This lead to the meat inspection act and the Food and Drugs act.

Meat(raw and processed), raw fish( fresh, frozen salmon, cod etc), processed fish

Controls the temperature and humidity to slow the rate of respiration and ripening
How to make apple cider?
Start with apple juice, inoculate it with yeasts that ferment the sugar into ethanol
How to make apple vinegar?
Take apple cider and inoculate it with bacterial cultures that oxidize ethanol to acetic acid
What do you do with the apple waste after making apple juice?
some go to waste, some become animal feed , can be made into pectin or organic matter
What is pectin?
Used as a gelling agent
What can you process apples into?
Apple sauce, pie fillings, fruit leather, dehydrated apple slices, etc
