LESSON 1 Flashcards
Is a symbol usually a letter that holds a value that may increase or decrease over time or takes different values in different situation
Variable
Called the predictor variable
Independent Variable
Called the criterion
Dependent Variable
Variables that can’t be expressed in decimals & whole number
Discrete or Discontinuous Variables
Variables that can be expressed in decimals
Continuous Variable
Well defined collection of distinct objects & can be denoted by a capital letter
Sets
Object that make up a set & enclosed by braces and separated by commas
Element
Set containing all the existing elements & all the sets are subset
Universal Set
Describe the number of elements inside a given set
Order of the set
Give the 9 types of set
Empty, finite, infinite, proper & improper subset of a set, disoint & joints, equivalent & equal set
Set that has no element in it
Empty Set
Consist of countable numbers of elements & has a determinate number of elements
Finite set
Has indetermine number of elements, counting numbers unlimited
Infinite set
Set whose elements are found in a larger set & part of a larger set
Proper subset of a set
Set ia an blank subset of a given set if they are equal set
Improper subset of a set
Two or more sets with no common elements
Disjoint set
Two or more sets with at least one common elements
Joint sets
Two or more sets with same number of elements
Equivalent Sets
Two or more sets with the same elements
Equal sets
It refers to the combination or merging of two or more sets to create a new set that contains all the distinct elements from the original sets.
Union of a set
It refers to the collection of elements that are common to two or more sets.
Intersection sets
Removes the same number/elements
it represents the elements unique to set A when compared to set B.
Difference of a sets
refers to the set of all elements that are not in the given set, but are part of the universal set
Impart of universal Set but you’re going to remove the common
Complement of a set
