Why do scientists use Latin?
Because Latin words and their meanings will never change.
What is a biologist?
A scientist who studies living things.
What is a botanist?
A biologist who studies plants.
What are some helpful or interesting things that botanists do?
-study plants that are used to make medicines and cure diseases
-experiment with plants to help crops grow faster and stronger
-help farmers improve the food we eat
-study plants in outer space to see how gravity affects plants
What do vascular plants have that non-vascular plants do not?
Tubes inside the plant that transport fluids, like water
What are spermatophytes?
Seeds, plants, or plants that produce seeds.
Can you name one (spermatophyte)?
A pine tree
What are sporophytes?
Spore plants, or plants that make spores instead of seeds.
Can you name a plant that is a sporophyte?
A fern
