Lesotho is a land locked country completely surrounded by South Africa.

when was the project started and when is it planned to finish?
1988 and 2027
whats the aim?
by 2027 the project will divert 40% of the senqu/orange orange water through 5 large dams 3 of which have already been built.
Benefits of the project?
7000 construction workers get fairly well paid jobs and training. With the excess water they could sell to South Africa which is drastically needed as 12 million south africans live without a reliable water source and make $35 million a year.
consequences?
30,000 lost their best farmland and they were not given adequate compensation.
why is it possible?
In the east of the country there are high mountainous which receive a high amount of rainfall (1020 mm).
