What is the order of pronouns in the present?
Me/te/se/nous/vous > le/la/les > lui/leur > y > en
Ex: Elle me le donne, mais elle le lui donne.
Where should the “ne… pas” go in a sentence in the present?
Around the pronouns and the conjugated verb.
Ex: Elle ne me le donne pas. Elle ne le lui donne pas.
Where should you put pronouns in the present?
Directly preceding the verb.
Ex: Il le fait.
When do you use the pronoun “en”?
To replace nouns preceded by any form of “de” or preceded by a quantity (like un, beaucoup, etc.)
Ex: J’ai deux classes aujourd’hui. > J’en ai deux.
Do you keep the quantity in the sentence when replacing a noun preceded by a quantity with “en” in the negative?
No. Omit the quantity when you replace the phrase with “en”.
Ex: Est-ce que tu as un livre?
Oui, j’en ai un. VS Non, je n’en ai pas.
