- Add ‘E’ at the end
- eg. ‘parfaite’, ‘branchee’
Masculine plural adjectives
- Add an ‘s’ at the end
- eg. ‘parfaits’, ‘branches’
Feminine plural adjectives
- Add ‘es’ at the end
- eg. ‘parfaites’, ‘branchees’
If adjective ends in ‘-e’
- do not add another ‘-e’
- eg. ‘facile’
If adjective ends in ‘-et’
- then change to ‘-ète’
- eg. ‘inquiète’
- or change to ‘ette’
If adjective ends in ‘-er’
- then change to ‘-ère’
- eg. chère
If adjective ends in ‘-eur’
- then change to ‘-euse’
- eg. menteuse
If the adjective ends in ‘-x’
- Then change to ‘-se’
- eg. ‘jalouse’
If the adjective ends in ‘-f’
- Then change to ‘-ve’
- eg. ‘neuve’
If the adjective ends in ‘-c’
- then change to ‘-che’
- eg. ‘franche’
- or change to ‘-que’
- eg. ‘turque’
If the adjective ends in ‘-eil’ ‘-el’ ‘-an’ ‘-en’ ‘-on’ ‘-ot’ ‘-as’
- then change to double consonant + e
- eg. cruelle

- favori, favorite
- long, longue
- frais, fraîche
- doux, douche
- roux, rousse
- gros, grosse
- épais, épaisse
- meilleur, meilleure
- gentil, gentille
If adjective ends in ‘-s’ or ‘-x’
- doesn’t change in masculine plural
- eg. ‘heureux’
‘-al’ to ‘-aux’ exceptions
- fatal/s
- banal/s
- final/s
- naval/s
when plural adjectives describe nouns of different genders
- use masculine plural form
- eg. ‘paul et sophie sont gentils’
adjectives that don’t change in feminine or plural
- shortened words, eg. ‘sympa’
- foreign words, eg. ‘cool’
- words derived from nouns, eg. ‘marron’
- compound colour adjectives, eg. ‘bleu clair’
adjectives with irregular singular and plural forms
- masc sing: beau, nouvel, vieux
- masc sing before vowel/silent h: bel, nouvel, viel
- fem sing: belle, nouvelle, vielle
- masc plu: beaux, nouveaux, vieux
- fem plu: belles, nouvelles, vielles
