A

this is one of the longest periods of time she speaks
this is interesting as it is a time when she is the highest person in power (there are no men around) the supposed only person with her is ursula

Q

why she, oh she is fallen into a pit of ink, that the wide sea hath drops too few to wash her clean again

A

leonato is calling hero ruined or marked- due to the suposod loss of her viginity - and he is using a metephor to say not even the sea could make her clean again.
this also links to heros “blot” saying no one can Blot out her name again using the ink imagery

Q

hero has long (for her) monologe

that I yesternight
Maintained the change of words with any creature,
Refuse me, hate me, torture me to death!

A

this is very out of character for hero as she is speaking about how if she truly is lying than may she be hated tortured and refused.

Q

Act 3 Scene page 65 lines 1-13 15-26
hero lines

A

this is significant becuase hero is extreamly different from her usual self, she is speaking and is dominating conversation. this is significant as she is a very small person in the sence she is stepd over and is not consider important as she is a women(not fiery like beatrice) but there is a simpe reason she is speaking- she is the highest in rank, supposidly the only person with her is ursula who is a waiting women and of low class.

But who dare tell her so? If I should speak,
She would mock me into air.

O, she would laugh me
Out of myself, press me to death with wit.

A

even though her is technically of higher standing than beatrice she is still scared of being mocked by her
