Years after ICCE (less often ECCE/phaco), circumferential peripheral K edema starting inf. central K stays clear but may have guttae
A-P diameter of lens a) at birth and b) in adulthood
a) 3.5 mm; b) 5 mm
Tetanic cataract
Idiopathic or 2/2 hypoparathyroidism
Punctuate iridescent opacities in ant/post cortex separated by clear space (looks similar to xmas tree)
DDX retained lens nuclei
Rubella, Lowe’s, trisomy 13 & 21, Leigh syndrome
Lens proteins
Alpha: largest; 35% by wt
Beta: 55% by wt
Gamma: smallest
MIP: not water soluble, a/w brunescence

IOL characteristics associated with dysphotopsias
High index, square edge, acrylic, less steep curvature of anterior surface
