precancer (esophageal cancer). Diagnosed by upper endoscopy with biopsy.
Barrett’s esophagus
They test for presence of viral RNA.
PCR tests - are not antibody tests
means that the virus is present.
PCR tests - positive result
can be performed for diagnosing disease such as hepatitis C or Hiv
PCR tests
has highest risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer
Hepatitis C
called the HCV antibody (HCV Ab). .If positive, next step is to order HCV RNA test. If positive, patient has hepatitis C.
