Preferential Voting
A
- used by HoR-151 members
- voter is required to number candidates in order of preference on the ballot paper

Preferential how system works
A
- all the number one votes from each candidate are counted ( first preference votes)
- If one candidate has over half the votes, they win the vote and enters HoR
- If no candidates get over half the votes the candidate with the lowest number of number one votes is eliminated then it goes to the votes second preference votes get distributed to those candidates then normally on candidate has over half the votes they win.

A
- used in the senate
- the electorates r states and territories ( cant run for senate in more than one state) states-12 territories-2
- every 3yrs the half the senate leaves and new senators come in because they have finished there six yr term
- either vote above or below the line

A
- vote for the political party
- at least have to nominate 6 parties ( otherwise won’t count)
- when you vote for the party the party that you chose chooses the individual candidates from there party for u in there preference order.

- vote for the individual candidates in each party ( at least number first 12 preferences)

Proportional how to win
A
to win a seat the candidate of the party must pass a quota (14%)
- cannot eliminate people in the senate election with the least amount of votes if less than six people pasted the quota, they take extra votes from candidates that have past the quota and redistribute them evenly among remaining candidates who havent pasted
