Legislative intent?
- Practice insures that PT and PTA meet safety requirements
- Regulate PT to maintain safety and welfare of the public
Practice of Physical Therapy?
- POC can be developed by a PT or practitioner of record (chiro, physician, NP, DO, Dentist, podiatrist)
Direct Access
- can practice Direct Access up to 30 days, then the practitioner must review and sign orders after 30 days
- DOES NOT apply if the patient has been dx by an out of state physician as having a condition that requires PT and the PT is treating the condition
Physical Therapist cannot perform?
spinal manipulations and must be referred to a chiro
What is a Physical Therapist?
- licensed

- anyone working or volunteering in a PT setting and not holding a license as a PT/PTA

If you are an active changing to inactive license you pay for?
- inactive status renewal fee,

if you want to change your license to retired - how much do you have to pay?
not exceed $50.00 at the time of renewal
- <$50 must be paid with the change of status fee at any other time other than the time of renewal
if you are inactive and want to change to active what are the requirements during renewal time?
- must pay the active status renewal fee
if you are inactive and want to change to active what are the requirements outside renewal time?2 things?
- will only pay the difference between inactive renewal fee and active renewal fee
- PLUS any reactivation fees
What happens if a license fails to renew before expiration?
delinquent
How does a license become void?
failure of a delinquent licensee to become active or inactive before the next renewal cycle (two years)
how does a delinquent license get their license back? 2 things
- apply for a new licensure to obtain active or inactive status
- delinquency fee not exceed renewal fee
active license applying for a change in status,how much is the fee?
additional fee not to exceed the biennial renewal fee

Requirements for reactivation of an inactive or retired license? 4 major things
Payment fees:
1: biennial renewal fee
2: unlicensed activity fee
3: reactivation fee
Documentation of 10 hours of CEU for each year the license was inactive
(2hr of prevention of medical errors, 2hr of Florida PT laws and rules, max of six of the 10 hours can be home study)
Documentation showing the applicant is in good standing and has practiced in another state for the four years (at least 400hr) preceding the reactivation if transferring from out of state
proof passing the NPTE
Direct supervision?
physical presence of a licensed PT to be able to direct care
General supervision?
supervision in which the PT is accessible at all times by two way communication an available for consultation during treatment and in the same geographic location
