Powers that specifically listed in Article I that give Congress the ability to pass certain laws
What is implied powers?
Powers that the Constitution gives to Congress that are not listed in detail. Also known as the Elastic Clause
What are the expressed powers?
- Declaring war
- Creating and making the armed forces
- Coining-manufacturing
- Establishing a system of delivering mail
- Creating the federal courts below the supreme courts
- Raising money by taxing
- Spending money to benefit the nation
- Regulating the process of becoming a citizen
- Regulating commerce- trade among the states
