what is a legislation
a law or set of laws that have been passed by parliament
what is a policy
a set of guidelines or rules adopted by an organisation
what is a procedure
an official or established way of carrying out tasks within guidelines
what is direct discrimination
when someone is out at a disadvantage or treated less favourably because of a protected characteristic
what is indirect discrimination
when a working practise, policy or rule is the same for everyone but has a worse effect on someone because of a protected characteristic
what is harassment
when someone abuses, insults or harms you on a regular basis due to a protected characteristic
what is victimisation
when someone is treated unfairly because they have made a complaint about discrimination
