What are the 4 main points of the CMA?
It is a criminal offence to:
Gain access to unauthorised computer material
Unauthorised acts to commit a crime (e.g theft fraud etc)
Unauthorised acts which impair the use of a computer (making and using malware)
Unauthorised acts of causing serious damage (to the economy, the environment etc)
What is the main purpose of the CDPA?
To protect the creators of intellectual property, so their work isn’t illegally used (without their permission)
What is the fair use concept?
When the use of the ip is justified
What is the purpose of RIPA?
Regulates surveillance
What 6 things can this law enable public bodies to do?
ISP gives access to a customer’s communication
ISP has surveillance equipment
Mass surveillance of communication
Grants access to encryption keys (for protected info)
Monitor internet activity
Prevent data being revealed in court
