A
- to keep track of horses that end up in the human food chain
- makes it a legal requirement for all horses to be issued with a passport and microchipped
- it is an offence to own a horse that doesn’t have a passport
- horses cannot be sold without a passport
- purpose is so that horses being administered certain medicines are not slaughtered for human consumption (EU + UK)
