Fairness
The principle of having a fair court and a fair hearing. This means all parties of a legal case should have an opportunity to know the facts of a case and be able to present their side of events.
equality
The principle that people should be equal before the law and have an equal opportunity to present their case. This means providing additional help to those who need it
Access
Access mean all individuals should be able to understand their legal rights and be able to pursue their case
Burden of proof
The responsibilty of a party to prove a case, usually rests with the party who initiates the case
Standard of proof
The minimum amount which as case has to be proved in court
Presumption of innocence
The right of a person accused of commiting a crime to be presumed innocent unless proven guilty
Jury
A independent group chosen at random to decide whether or not an individual is guilty in a legal case
magistrate
The person who in charge over preceding’s int the lower court, particularly the magistrate court
Judge
The person who presides over a proceeding in higher courts, particularly the county or supreme courts
