Definition of Human Rights
Rights that recognise the inherent value of each person, regardless of our background, where we live, what we look like, or what we believe.
The three catagories of human rights.
First gerneation, Second generation, and Third generation
What is the first genration of human rights
First gen is Civil and political rights
What is the second gernation
Economic, cultural and social rights
what is the Third gernation of Human rights
environmental rights and peace rights
Where are the Human rights located
The rights are located in The Universal Declaration of Human rights (1948) and The international Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural rights (1966)
Why were the rights developed
They were developed as a development of the atrocities of WW2. The rights also built upon rights outlined by religions throughoutthe world
What is Abolitionism
Abolitionism is ending slavery
What is a right
A moral or legal entitlement to a person
what is a state
A goventmetn and the people it governs
what is Ratified
Ratified is the process of a state formally approving a treaty making it legally binding, i.e peope in taiwan can get protection under human rights regiem because they live in an unrecognised state.
What is a nation
A nation is a group of people who share a common heritage, language or culture and sometimes a common race, This dose not always correspond with state borders
What are the charactersitics of state sovereignty
Permanent population, a defined terrirtory, government, and capacity to enter into international relations
how many states are fully recognised state members of the UN
193 members are recognised
