Difference between Solicitor and Barrister
Solicitors are usually first contact for clients as well as being on a more personal level with clients. They also usually work for a legal firm.
Role of Judge in Supreme Court
Hearing appeals in civil cases and criminal cases.
Role of Judge in CoA
Hearing appeals in civil cases on finding liability and/or amount awarded.
Legal Services Board
Created under Legal Services Act 2007
Oversees regulation of lawyers in England and Wales.
Suggests reform and recommendations to modernise legal services market.
Legal Ombudsman
If dispute between client and lawyer cannot be resolved then it is referred to LO.
An independent scheme that resolves complaints about lawyers from clients in a fair and effective way.
