What training do you need to be a Barrister?
All students must pass the BAR professional training course, however the BAR is degree based.
What is pupillage?
Pupillage is on the job training - shadow qualified barristers this can be carried out by a single barrister for 12 months or two barristers and with each for 6 months.
What is the role of a barrister?
Barristers are usually self-employed and work from a set of chambers. There may be 15-20 barristers in one set of chambers and they will employ a clerk as a practise administrator.
What training do you need to be a solicitor?
They need to complete a Training practise course (LPA)
this includes:
training skills such as client interviewing, negotiation, advocacy, drafting documents and legal research.
What is the role of a solicitor?
Most work in private practise at a firm. There are other options too; a solicitor may choose to work for the CPS or for local authority or government departments.
What is the typical salary of a solicitor?
£20,000-£40,000
