In the USA and CANADA, a graduate student from JD, LLM, or JSD is not entitled to practice law just by getting a degree.

In the USA once you have been accepted by any state bar, you are allowed to plead cases in the courts of such state.
The American Bar Association (ABA)
Professional association of lawyers that usually regulates:
- The requirements to practice law in the state on which such bar is constituted.
- The legal profession in general, such as: Pro Bono requirements, Ethical

Bars are regulated in each state, so the requirements of the states are not the same.
The ABA provides comprehensive information about the requirements in all jurisdictions.
