A conveyance of a legal estate in land must be by deed
s52(1) LPA 1925
A legal lease for 3 years or less taking effect in possession and at the best rent reasonably obtainable without a payment of a fine may be purely verball or else in writing which does not satisfy any formality
s54(2) LPA 1925
A contract must:
- be in writing
- contain all express terms of the agreement
- be signed by, or on behalf of, the parties to the contract
s2 LP(MP)A 1989
A contract for a lease for three years or less may be purely oral
s2(5) LP(MP)A 1989
If the contract was entered into before 27/09/1989, the contract must be evidenced in writing or by acts of part performance

An express declaration of land must be evidenced in writing and signed by its creator

A disposition of an equitable interest in land must be in writing, and signed by the person selling or disposing of the interest or their agent
