Left Turning Tendencies Flashcards
What is P-Factor?
It is responsible for asymmetrical relocation of the propellers center of thrust when the aircraft is at a high angle of attack.
What is Torque?
It is the opposite and equal reaction from the propeller turning clockwise. EX. If the jolly green giant grabs the propeller of the plane the plane will spin counter-clockwise.
Propeller Slip Stream
The alternation in the airflow which causes the airplane to yaw left and roll right. EX. Airflow Corkscrews fuselage
Adversed Yaw
Causes the plane to yaw in the opposite direction of the roll.
Newtons First law
If an object is at rest it will stay at rest or moves at a constant velocity unless acted upon by net force. EX. “An object at rest will stay at rest. An object in motion will stay in motion.”
Newtons Second Law
The sum of the forces of an object is equal to the mass of that object multiplied by acceleration vector of the object.”F=MA”
Newtons Third Law
For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction.
Bernoulli’s principal
As airspeed/velocity increases, density decreases.
How do you correct torque?
Add right rudder and trim if needed.
How do you correct P-Factor?
Add right rudder and trim if needed.
How do you adapt to Propeller Slip Stream?
Add Right rudder and roll Left.
How do you correct Adversed Yaw?
Add Right rudder input .
What are the Four forces of flight.
Lift, Weight, Thrust, Drag,
What are the types of Drag?
Parasite, and Induced
What is Parasite Drag?
It is drag that is caused by excess attachments on the plane.
