Three related causes of crime
Relative deprivation - deprivation is root of crime. Individuals compare their lifestyle in relation to others and leads to resentment, therefore commit crime to obtain what they feel they are entitled to
Marginalisation - lack clear goals and organisations to represent interests. Feel powerless and use crime such as violence to express frustration
Subculture - collective solution to the problem of relative deprivation. E.g weber ‘theodicy of disprivilege ‘ turning to religion to offer comfort and explanation to situation
