Lee Jasper Direct Answers Flashcards
Could you please introduce yourself to the court?
Hey y’all I am Lee Jasper, or some of you may know me as the “rising star”. Well.. I guess i WAS a rising star, but now i’ve fallen.
Where do you live?
I’m a local here in Salem, born and raised in the god-almighty sweet south.
And what do you do for a living?
I’m a professional bull rider. Or at least was a professional bull rider
You say you WERE a bull rider…tell me about that.
Like I said, I was a rising star, but more than that I knew I had to be #1 in the world. I already had got my big belt, ranking #10 in the amatuer circut and was conquering bulls left and right. You should have seen me it was like paradise, but in a smelly dust pin
And what happened to your career?
Reese Witherfork’s lack of security at the rodeo is what ruined it. While I was trying to soak up my special moment, I was struck in the head by a chair.
Who threw this chair at you?
Well someone that Reece knew was going to cause trouble.
What do you mean by that?
Wiley Coyote Smith was the guy who hit me with the chair. He had a bucking reputation though. He was a real hothead, always causin some sort of trouble.
Is this your personal opinion?
Oh no honey. This little hothead’s violent nature was no secret. It was even in a nespaper article!
Do you agree with this article’s description of Coyote behavior?
Yes, of course! See, it even says here that local officials know she frequently causes. (read line)
Is this the first time you have been injured?
-No, a month before I fell of a bull and hit my head on the gate and was knocked out for a few.
Did you have any issues after the first injury?
Just a few headaches ,but nothing serious.
Did you go to the doctor?
Yes, I went with my friend Jes.
What happened when you consulted this doctor?
I don’t know how much you go to the doctor, but it takes a really long long time. You see, we got in the waiting room and waited for what felt like hours. We finally got called back into the exam room, but then same thing all over again.
I thought I had left the room for waiting, but I guess not. The appointment was going a lot longer than I expected, and I had a riding session i couldn’t miss, so I decided to leave early. As you know, I take my career and training very seriously.
Can you go into detail about what happened on the day of the rodeo?
Yes ma’am. That night august 24th was supposed to be the best day of my buckles bunny life, but it ended up being the buck stop of all buckles. I was assigned to one of the most difficult bulls, “Consume Additional Poultry” or like us locals say CAP. No rider has ever been able to be an 8 second warrior, but not every rider is Lee Jasper. CAP was bucking like crazy, but I showed’em who was boss and managed to stay dirt dancing for 9 seconds! 9 seconds! It was a horn hugger by golly!
What happened after your ride?
I was walking to the exit gate, soaking up my special moment, when all of a sudden I see something flying out of Section A. I was knocked cold out. Boom!!!!!
What happened when you woke up?
Ya see I wake up on the floor next to the green chair. This rodeo clown informed me it hit me square in the head!! I had a splitting headache and was dizzier than a leprechaun on St. Patty’s. I can’t believe I just dominated CAP to be taken out by a chair.
What happened next?
Due to the severity of the injury I was taken in an ambulance to ER. i was diagnosed with concussion and had this huge hole in my forehead that needed 6 STITCHES.
How much time did you spend at the hospital?
The whole night
What happened when you got out of the hospital?
Ill tell you. My whole life turned upside down, I had significant short memory problems. I can’t open my eyes without having a skull crushing headache, constant nausea even though I think that’s gross. I lost my southern twang, and I don’t feel like the old me anymore.
Did you consult any additional doctors about these symptoms?
Yes, on September 15th I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and foreign accent syndrome.
Has this changed your way of life in any way?
I can’t even tell you how much it has. Beside’s from the major injuries I’ve sustained, I’ve lost all sense of identity. I don’t sound like the woman I was for 27 years, and my passion has been crushed under the hoof.
Can you still ride bulls?
No. My bull riding was me. And I was bull riding. I ate, slept, and breathed the rodeo so that is all gone now is a nightmare. I still had 7 to ten more years to show the world what I was made of. All because Reece didn’t have enough safety, my dreams of being the best bull rider in the world have been bucked off into the dust.
How do you remember this chair?
This chair is what ruined my life, its very important and I would never forget it. My memory issues only effect small things like grocery lists.
