Communication lines were cut off and roads so badly damaged that many villages on the Ghorka region (near the epicentre) were cut off
How did the dead have to be dealt with?
Funeral pyres were lit in the streets to cremate the dead
Why did people have to sleep in the streets on the night of the 25th?
They were afraid tot go back to their homes after aftershocks of up to 6.9 continued to cause destruction
Which countries sent aid to Nepal?
the US, UK, Pakistan, Germany and India
What happened to some climbers in the Himalayas as a secondary effect?
The earthquake triggered an avalanch on Everest, killing 18 climbers and sherpas. The quake occurred during the main tourist season, so many tourists lost their lives.
