1
Q

A

Underpins normal function of the systems in the body
Maintains conditions in the internal enlvironment

2
Q

Regulatory mechanisms homeostasis relies on the control variables to not stray to far from “normal”

A

Temperature, ion concentration, blood sugar levels, fluid balance e.t.c.

3
Q

Feedback

A

When the controlled variable moves too far from the set point and responses from the body attempt to move the variable back to “normal”
E.g: shivering to produce heat

4
Q

Feedforward

A

When there is an anticipation of an event that will alter a controlled variable, so you may do something to minimise the effect
E.g: putting on a jumper when it’s cold

18
Q

Coronal plane

A

front and back plane

19
Q

Sagittal plane

A

divides body into left and right pieces

20
Q

Transverese plane

A

lower and upper plane

21
Q

Sagittal movement

A

back and forwards

22
Q

Midsagittal /median plane

A

divides body into mirror image left and right halves

23
Q

coronal movement

A

side to side

24
Q

transverse movement

A

rotating movement

25
Flexion
occurs in the Sagittal plane, decreases the angle (fleshy part of limb brought closer together)
26
extension
Sagittal plane, increase angle
27
foot movement in the Sagittal plane
Dorsiflexion & plantarflexion
28
Dorsiflexion
toes brought towards face
29
plantarflexion
toes pointing towards ground
30
Movement in coronal plane
abduction & adduction
31
abduction
movements at joint moves limb away from midline
32
Adduction
movement at joint moves limb toward midline
33
foot movement in coronal plane
inversion & eversion
34
inversion
sole of foot faces towards midline
35
eversion
sole of foot turns away from midline
36
Circumduction
combination of flexion, abduction, extension, adduction (no rotation)
37
rotation
rotation around the long axis of a joint, lateral (external), and medial (internal)
38
pronation
palm faces posterior
39
supination
palm faces anterior and forearm bones parallel
