Origin: occipital bone and spines of C7 and all thoracic vertebrae
Insertion: clavicle, spine of scapula, and acromion process
Action: elevates scapula, draws head back, adducts scapula, braces shoulders

Action: abducts arms, extends and flexes humerus

Origin: supraspinous fossa of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: abducts and laterally rotates humerus

Infraspinatus
Origin: infraspinous fossa of scapula

Origin: lateral border of scapula

Action: flexes and supinates forearm
