What is the goal of the crisis resolution team?
Primarily designed as an alternative to inpatient admission by providing short term care and treatment to people in the community.
After appropriate referral and assessment, the crisis team will aim to resolve the crisis in partnership with the service user , their family and carers, as well as Professionals form other services .
CRT facilitates early discharge, ensuring that a patients returns to the community as soon as it is safe to do so. CRT will also provide Rapid Response Service .
How are the CRT services distributed?
By postcode
Every postcode will have a specific crisis team
What are the functions of the CRT?
- visit you in your home or elsewhere in the community, for example at a Crisis team office or day center
- visit you in hospital if you’re going on leave or being discharged
- assess your needs and offer support to help you stay at home, or leave hospital more quickly
- assist with self-help strategies
- administer medication
- provide practical help, for example with money, housing or childcare arrangements
- help plan your care if you’ve had a crisis, to prevent this happening again in future
How do you get in cotact with the CRT?
What form does the referral take in CRT?
Only phone or face to face - a nurse will check that the referral meets the criteria
What information does the CRT need to know for referral?
What is CAB/ CMHT/ WDP service?
CAB - citizens advise bureau
WDP - westminister drug project
CMHT - community mental health teams
If home treatment is not possible?
Informal admission - CMHT worker arranges admission . CRT will contact Bed Manager to inform that assessment has been done and that admission is required.
Formal admission - CMHT Worker usually arranges MHA assessment. CRT will contact Bed Manager to inform that assessment has been done and that admission is required.
What is TIA?
Trauma informed approach to therapy
Acknowledges relationship between person’s life experiences and development of mental health difficulties
They aim to support people to understand this, and find ways to move forward.
