What is the nucleosome?
Describe its structure.
A
The fundamental unit of DNA packaging.
It consists of 146 base pairs of DNA that are coiled around a central core of 8 histone proteins (2 H2A, H2B, H3 and H4).
Adjacent nucleosomes linked by linker DNA, this is stabilised by histone H1.
