Progressive mobility:
Readies the patient for ventilation weaning***
Reduces ICU and Hospital LOS
Prevents de-conditioning
Prevents VAP and pressure ulcers
Maintains pre-admission activity
Progressive mobility: Criteria 6
No arterial groin catheters
FiO2 <50%, with PEEP <10cmH20
SaO2 > 90% at rest or 88% with activity
Stable neurologic status
No major orthopedic injuries/issues
Hemodynamically stable
Progressive mobility: Multi-Level approach
1- for those not meeting the above mentioned criteria:
- Turning Q2, active ROM, Passive ROM, splinting extremities, HOB 30 degrees
2- For those meeting above criteria:
- HOB 45-65, Seated position in bed (If bed allows), Out of bed with assistance 2x daily for <1 hr.
3- meeting level 2 objectives:
- Sitting on side of bed, Advancing to standing position
4- meeting level 3 objectives:
- Out of bed, standing, ambulation
