Q

3 classes of lip line:
High
Medium
Low

A

High: A 2mm or above display of gingival tissues
Medium: Gingival margin and the lip line is congruent
Low: A 2mm or more below the cervical line of upper central incisors

Q

Smile Design

Ideal central width
Ideal central length
Ratio:

A

width 8.5mm
length 11mm
ratio: 77%

Width remains constant with wear

Q

Incisal embrasures?

A

should follow a natural and progressive INCREASE in size from the central to the cuspid

Q

Location of the contact point to the alveolar bone was less than or equal to 5mm

A

papilla was present in 98% of the times

While at 6mm it dropped to 56% and at 7mm only present 27%

Q

Contact points?

A

contacts between teeth should go more APICAL the further back in the arch you go

12
Q

axial inclination

A

all teeth should have a mesial inclination - point toward the belly button

more exaggerated as we go toward posterior

subtle on centrals and less so on canines

Q

Apex of gingiva?

A

apex of gingiva should be towards distal on canines and centrals

apex of gingiva should be towards mesial on the laterals

Q

Lateral incisor features

A
set lingaul to central incisor plane
line angles more toward center of tooth
larger grind zone
mesical inclination
slightly shorter than centrals

16
Q

Tooth symmetry

A

central incisors are the most important teeth for smile design. Need to be symmetric and mid-line needs to be correct

most beautiful smiles have some asymmetry in the position of lateral incisors

most smiles become more asymmetric in tooth position as the patient gets older

17
Q

gingival symmetry

A

gingival border follows the upper lip
canines and centrals should be SAME HEIGHT
laterals should be slightly more incisal

18
Q

Reduction on crowns

A

1.5 mm axial reduction
2mm incisal reduction

3 planes of reduction gingival-incisal. be sure incisal edge of prep is LINGUAL to adjacent unprepped teeth

3 planes of reduction mesio-distally

19
Q

Fully Prepped Veneers

A

reduction will be related to tooth position
preserve enamel!!
prep must break interpoximal contact
facial reduction ~0.7mm
incisal is 1.5 to 2 mm reduction with BUTT JOINT MARGIN

if closing a diastema the prep cannot end supra-gingivally. The wider the diastema the more sub gingival your prep has to be in order to avoid black triangles
