Lecture 6 - Networkability, Smartness and Interoperability in SBN Flashcards
What is networkability? (from the single firm (Wigand et al, 1997) and business network perspective (Alt & Smits, 2007; 2010))
Single firm: the capability of an organization to collaborate internally and externally at the level of business processes and underlying IT infrastructure
Business network: the capability of a network to collaborate internally and externally at the level of business processes and underlying IT infrastructure
What is smartness? (van Heck & Vervest, 2007)
o the capability (of a network) to allow firms and networks to ‘connect/disconnect’ (better than competitors)
o the capability (of a network) to ‘pick, plug and play’ firms in the network (better than competitors)
What is interoperability?
o the capability of computer systems to exchange and use data (between devices made by different manufacturers) (see e.g., the Interop and other EU research projects)
