LECTURE 6 DESIGN LAYOUT Flashcards
Cross-channel offers a different stance from both multi-channel and
cross-media: the single channel might or might not offer a complete entry
point into the ecosystem, but the fact is that most of the users / customers
will not stay in that channel from point A to point Z.
Cross-Channel UX
argued that ‘the job of the designer is
now not just to design the device, the software, and the way you interact
with it, but to design the whole experience of the service so it is coherent
and satisfying’. UX has moved from designing a website or an app to do a
single thing to designing a service.
Gillian Crampton-Smith (2004)
conceptualized the
development of websites in terms of five elements: strategy, scope,
structure, skeleton and surface.
Jesse James Garrett (Garrett, 2003)
a key step in the process of user interface design
that answers the question. It is a theme, notion, or idea with the purpose
of communicating a design vision about a system or product. This is the
part of the system design that brings the designer’s mental model.
Conceptual Design
part of the design process after you have a clear
grasp of the problem and your users’ needs.
Rapid Prototyping
The mere process of creating hastily
drawn visual depictions of ideas and
concepts
sketching
the blueprint for design
Wireframes
They’re
supposed to connect the underlying conceptual structure (or information
architecture) to the surface (or visual design) of a website or mobile
app
Content to Interactive Wireframe
The interaction modeling and interface options can be put together
concretely
wireframing process
originated from making rough specifications for website page design and
resembles scenarios or storyboards
Wireframing
- look like page
schematics or screen blueprints, which serve as a visual guide that
represents the skeletal framework of a website or interface
-It depicts the
page layout or arrangement of the UI objects and how they respond to
each other.
-can be pencil drawings or sketches on a
whiteboard, or they can be produced by means of a broad array of free or
commercial software applications.
