Q

What are the symptoms of typhoid?

A
Fever
Headache
Abdominal pain
Constipation
Relative bradycardia
17
Q

What is the treatment for typhoid?

A

Ceftriaxone or azithromycin for 7 - 14 days

18
Q

What sort of disease is dengue fever?

A

Arbovirus - virus spread by arthropods

19
Q

Briefly outline the significance of re-infection with dengue fever

A

First infection generally mild, but second infection with different serotype results in antibody-dependent enhancement. Can lead to dengue haemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome.

20
Q

Why is it important to take a travel history in anyone in whom you suspect an infection?

A

May be an infection you are not familiar with, or may be a different strain of a familiar infection, including one that is resistant to conventional treatments
