What is the formulation for Diphtheria <7 y/o?
7 or older?
<7 = DTaP or DT
& or older= Tdap or Td (lower diphtheria dose)
What are the complications of diptheria?
Myocarditis, ascending paralysis, vocal cord paralysis
What is the only CI to the Tdap Vaccine?
CI = Anaphylaxis after receiving any Tdap component
When is Tdap admin routinelt?
Routine at 11-12 years of age
When can you defer immunization for Pertussis?
What do you give at 1 year?
Evolving neurological disorder
- To reduce confusion if clinical course changes
If deferral chosen at 1 year, give DT
What type of virus is the poliovirus?
Why not use oral version?
When is final dose give?
Killed virus
No longer use oral version (live attenuated) → some conversion/mutation → vaccine assoc paralysis
Final dose ≥ 4 years (at least 6 mo from previous dose)

Benefit of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine?
Can be admin in young kids, able to mount response

↑risk of invasive pneumococcal disease
1. Anatomic or functional asplenia (sickle cell disease)
- HIV or other immune compromise
- Cochlear implant or CSF leak
- Chronic renal failure, nephrotic syndrome

When/why give Hep B vaccine to Preterm infants < 2 kg BW?
Reduced immune response to birth dose
Administer 1st dose = 1 month of age or hospital D/C (whichever is first)
