Define intersectionality

A

The name we give to the enhancement and diminution of out life chances according to our biographical attributes and how they can overlap, cancel, and reinforce each other. Experiences that make or hinder you, contributing to your identity.

Define structural suffering

A

A systematic, widespread, predictable inequality of access to those processes that enhance and sustain wellbeing. Acts via fault lines of deeply entrenched inequality and disenfranchisement and organized economic activity and expressed towards dividuals and groups via out identities.

Outline the social model of disability

A

Society as disabling - the manner in which circulating norms about what us an appropriate body shape, IQ, manner of moving, height etc restricts the life chances of people who demonstrate some perfectly ordinary form of difference from this norm

Outline the predicament model of disability

A

On top of social model, suggests that disability is also defined by personal predicaments. Has medical and material components to it as well as disabling social world aspect.
