Q

What is important about the therapeutic relationship and functional therapy?

A
  1. Type of tasks = meaningful 2.Context = meaningful and as natural “everyday” as possible 3.Collaboration/Apprenticeship model important
  2. Try to make Activity Level tasks project based so you can work together

Q

Why are metaphors beneficial

A

choosing an appropriate metaphor automatically encompasses a lot of details and associations, so you don’t have to explicit teach all of them in each situation

Q

What are the 8 things you should do at every session?

A
  1. Review overall “real life meaningful goal”
  2. Review plan required in order to achieve the overall “real life meaningful goal”
  3. With client choose one step (from overall plan) that you will be working on that day.
  4. Decide the strategies that you will need to use that day to compensate for CC difficulties.
  5. Complete a GOAL/PLAN/DO/REVIEW template.
  6. If problems arise- use self regulation and/or metaphor scripts, problem-solving template
  7. Review what worked and what didn’t work
  8. Use the scripts created in everyday real world settings to ensure it sticks using procedural memory.
