What is CIHI

What is the role of CIHI
- provide health information for sound health policy, effective management of Canadian health system, generate public awareness about good health
- Advise deputy Ministers of health on health information matters

What are some CIHI stakeholders
- CIHI collects info from and supports the information needs of many stakeholders
- ie regional health authorities, advocates, researchers, professionals associations, media and the public, Health Canada, Statistics Canada, Ministries of Health

Administrative: DAD, (acute impatient) NACRS (ambulatory care) and CMDB (financial and statistical workload)
Clinical: CCRS (inpatient continuing care), NRS (impatient rehab), and OMHRS (inpatient mental health)

- collect, process and analyze data on adult impatient mental health services
- support management decision making at the facility, regional and provincial levels
- for comparative reporting
- support approved research
