Lecture 5 Flashcards
Nucleotides
monomer of nucleic acids; named for abundance in nuclei of cells; make up genetic materials
Uniport
Transport single substance through membrane in one direction (into or out)
Symport
transport two or more substances through membrane in same direcction
antiport
transport two or more substances in opposite direction through membrane
Vesicles
small sacs filled with large molecule too big to transport by other means
Endocytosis
transport fluid and molecules into the cell
Phagocytosis
cells ingest large particles like bacteria or dead or damaged cells or parts of cell
Receptor mediated endocytosis
receptors fill vesicle with specific molecules
exocytosis
large molecules exit cell through secretion
