Lecture 4 -7 Flashcards
What’s the difference between rook-based & queen-based contiguity?
rook based: share a border (like a cross)
queen based share point (all of the squares)
T or F?
The output of a Global Moran’s I is a value whereas the output of local moran’s I is a map
T
What are the 2 main types of factors for social determinants of health?
- proximal factors (direct impact on health outcome
- Distal factors (indirect)
How are standard and spatial error regression different?
spatial regression uses a weight file and the output contains an autoregressive coeffiction
List the 2 relational statements and explain each one
- deterministic: 2 variables go together all the time (i.e. the further a car goes, the more gas it uses)
- probabilistic: 2 variables go together with some degree of regularity
What is spuriousness?
when 2 variables are associated but not causally related
What are the 2 types of causes?
- necessary
- sufficient (i.e. women can get pregnant but that doesnt mean all women are always pregnant)
Explain ecological fallacy
drawing conclusions about individuals based solely on the observation of groups
What is MAUP?
Modifiable areal unit problem (i.e. problem with boundary change. remember the GIS density example!)
