what is a face bow?
A
a caliper like instrument used to record the spatial relationship of the maxillary arch to some anatomic reference point or points and then transfer this relationship to articulator- orients the dental cast in a similar relationship to the opening axis of articulator
anatomic references are the mandibular condyles transverse horizontal axis and one other selected anterior point

essential to transfer the rotational axis of the pt’s condyles (two axes) and an imprint of the maxillary occlusal arch
