Q

What happens during a titration of total acidity?

A

A strong base is added to neautrilze the free ions, in order to maintain the certain pH the buffer system will release more hydrogen ions. At some point all the acids will have dissociated and reacted so the buffering power is done and now the titratble aciidty can be calculated

Q

An example of the use of acidity titration is in measuring the acidity of fresh milk, why is it important?

A

indicates quality since it is possible for fermantion of lactose to lactic acid by bacteria present in upasterized milk
