Lecture 3- pedogenesis Flashcards
What is CLORPT?
Climate acts on parent materials, in conjunction with organisms, modified by relief (topography), over time.
What is chronosequence?
a means of establishing the conological sequence of events from history. mostly done through assessing the impacts from glacial recession and landscape impressions
What is anthropopedogenisis?
Soil/ecosystem restoration/ erosion control done by humans to mitigate erosion effects.
What are Zonal Soils?
Expression of Biogeoclimatic Processes at a Sone/ subsone level
What is podzol?
Excess rainfall, leaching (soil assessment)
What is Chernozem?
Grassland Ecosystems
What is Luvisol?
Wetting/drying regimes- clay rich
What is Cryosol?
impacts of coldness on soil
What is Brunisol?
Arid
What is Vertisol?
Interior/ continental
What is AZonal Soils?
expression of local features and processes
What is Regosol?
Brunisol-soil succession
What is Gleysol?
Receiving areas
What is VErtisol
Shrink/swell, smectite clays..
