What is the tragedy of the commons?
As human populations increase , there will be increasing pressure on finite resources both at the local and particularly, global level, with the result of over exploitation and ruin
What are some obvious ecological commons?
Grazing lands, fisheries, game animals, timber, national parks, water, air.
Why do we pollute?
For the individual the cost of discharging wastes are much less than the cost of purifying wastes.
What’s an example of a technical solution to the tragedy of the commons?
Build a dam
