Lecture 3 Flashcards
1
Q
What is Asynchronous Transmission?
A
Data are transmitted per one character at a time
• Each character is 5-8 bit length
• The receiver has a chance to resynchronize to the beginning of each new character
• simple and economical

Q
What is Synchronous Transmission?
A
Clock synchronization between sender-receiver
• It also requires a synchronization level to allow the receiver to determine the
beginning and end of the data
