Lecture 29 - Randomised Controlled Trials Flashcards
1
Q
Reasons for RCT?
A
reduce confounding through random group allocation
2
Q
Not good for RCT?
A
things requiring compliance from both groups e.g. high vs low fat diet; ethical dilemmas; not real world representation; expenses affecting size of sample (most important)
3
Q
Applying relative risk?
A
focuses on the proportionate benefit for people with relevant condition, rather than the whole survey pool that can underestimate benefit e.g. -3/1000 RD but 0.7 RR
