What is agenda 21?
A comprehensive blueprint of global, national, and local action for achieving sustainable development during the 21st century
What is sustainable development?
Development that meets the needs of the present without him compromising the environments capacity to meet the needs of future generations
What is urban sprawl?
Spreading of a city and its suburbs over rural land at the fridge of an urban area
What is smart growth?
An urban planning and transportation theory that concentrates growth in the center of the city to avoid urban growth
What is the major problem with smart growth?
Many aspire to live comfortably in a single-family home in an affluent neighborhood which contributes to urban sprawl
What is an eco-city or an eco-village
An entire city or village dedicated to minimizing required inputs of energy water and food and production of wastes
What is cogeneration?
Harnessing of both heat and electricity generated from a power plant
What is xeriscaping?
Landscaping with plants that require little water
What is pre-cycling?
Purchasing products with minimal amount of packaging
