Q

Band pass filter

A

combines low pass and high pass filters and transmits sound every only within a particular rand or band.
i.e passing sound below 5kHz and above 2500Hz

Q

Describe the effect of changing the bandwidth on the level of frequency and temporal detail obtained from spectral analysis of speech

A

By adjusting the bandwidth level to narrow (30Hz) to wide bandwidth (500Hz). The detail we obtain from spectral filtering about the specific frequencies present in a sound signal depends upon the bandwidth of filters.

Q

Features that Can/Can’t be seen in narrow-band spectrograms

A

Can: fundamental frequency and harmonic frequencies

Can’t: Temporal resolution is poor so glottal pulsing is poor
