The kidney consists of
An Outer cortex and inner medulla

- superficial cells dome-shaped or squamous according to its physiological state.
Function of transitional epithelium
Stretches and permits distention of urinary bladder
Location of transitional epithelium
Lining of renal pelvis, ureters, urinary bladder and part of urethra
Location of simple squamous epithelium
- Alveoli in lungs
- Wall of capillaries
- Lining lumen of blood vessels/called endothelium
- Lining of body cavities: pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal/ called mesothelium
